I HATE FLYING - IF WE WERE MEANT TO FLY THEN WINGS WOULD BE PART OF OUR BODY.

It's no secret to those who know me that I don't like flying in airplanes.

While I do fly on a fairly regular basis, each trip requires on my part a process of letting go, of reaching the point on my flight departure date that I have made peace with the fact that my plane will crash, and when it doesn't, I am happily suprised.

I do understand that in its simplest terms that airplanes are able to fly due to two primary principles that contribute to the creation of lift, which is what makes flight possible. Those two principles are Bernoulli's Principle and Newton's Third Law. Let's break it down and look at each principle individually.

Bernoulli's Principle

By definition, Bernoulli's Principle states:

For an inviscid flow, an increase in the speed of the fluid occurs simultaneously with a decrease in pressure.
From a practical standpoint, this basically means that as a fluid (air, water, etc) moves faster, it's internal pressure decreases.

But how does this help an airplane create lift?

Basically, the shaping of the wing "fools" the air around it into thinking it is a long rotation cylinder, and forces the air to travel faster over the top of the wing than that of the bottom.

And according to Bernoulli's Principle, faster moving air = lower pressure. If we have lower pressure on top of the wing than we do on the bottom of the wing, we now have an inequality of pressures acting on the wing. There is more pressure pushing up on the bottom of the wing than there is on the top pushing down, which means we now have a total net force pushing up and we have lift.

Newton's 3rd Law

Newton's 3rd Law is defined as: To every action there is always an equal and opposite reaction.

Airplane wings are fixed onto the airframe of the plane at a slight angle. It may not be easy to see for the untrained eye, but upon a close examination of an wing's attachment point to the body of a plane, one will see a slight angle.

This angle creates a deflection of air downward. As air hits the underside of the wing, even in straight-and-level cruise flight, it is forced downward. And according to Newton's 3rd Law, the forcing of the air downward causes an equal and opposite upward force on the wing, thus contributing to the creation of lift.

Makes sense. So what's the big deal about flying?

Statistics show (Click Here) that flying is one of the safest things that you can do.

If you are going to worry about dying, there are many more probable ways to die than on a commercial jet.

Take a look at the chart below, which shows the chance of fatalities on a commercial flight compared to other causes of death in the United States.

Notice that you are more likely to die from a bee sting than from a commercial flight. The number one killer in the United States is cardiovascular disease, with about eight hundred and eighty-five thousand deaths per year. Each of us has about a fifty percent (50%) chance of dying of cardiovascular disease.

Whenever we fly, we have a one one-hundred-thousandth of one percent (.000014%) chance of dying!

Odds of Death
DEATH BY: YOUR ODDS
  • Cardiovascular disease: 1 in 2
  • Smoking (by/before age 35): 1 in 600
  • Car trip, coast-to-coast: 1 in 14,000
  • Bicycle accident: 1 in 88,000
  • Tornado: 1 in 450,000
  • Train, coast-to-coast: 1 in 1,000,000
  • Lightning: 1 in 1.9 million
  • Bee sting: 1 in 5.5 million
  • U.S. commercial jet airline: 1 in 7 million

Let me say, that all of the above sounds great, reads wonderful, and seems like a no brainer, but it does not help make better my dislike of flying.

I hate flying and these statistics do nothing to change my feelings, Sure, you can walk out the door of your house and a piano can fall on your head, or lightning can strike you on a clear, sunny day. Life is one big crap shoot, but there is just something about airplanes that gives me the creeps.

Let's start with the obvious point. Nobody can be unaware that airplanes at 30,000 feet plus high do not always come gracefully and gently into land when something goes wrong. I know, cars are much more dangerous at 55 mph, but they seem a lot more natural than airplanes.

In real life this doesn't make any sense, I know the ugly true facts about the dangers of cars, those who drive them, Driving Under The Influence of Drugs (DUI) or Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). I really know what can and does horrifically happen much more frequently with cars and people than with airplanes.

Today's Blog post is not about what what I should know, but one of those things we all have within ourselves that seems to make no sense, and why I can't seem to get rid of it.

If something goes wrong with an airplane, your options are severely limited. All the time before the flight you have to think about the prospect of actually getting on the airplane. I am not good with heights. I also expect to be in control somewhat of my ability to travel, while I am moving in space. I enjoy checking the oil, tire pressures, kicking the tires, filling the gas tank, doing the pre-trip maintenance check up, things that I am able to do with a car. It gives me a sense of feeling comfortable, a false sense for sure, but it works.

In an airplane everything is done to you in an airplane. You have to deal with the idiots at security and all of their self importance as they literally strip you bare.

Once on the airplane, you're imprisoned with all your fears. You are told where to sit, when you must strap yourself in, which receptacle you may be sick, and what to eat and drink. You can't get out, or wind down the window, and half the time you don't even know what time zone you're in. If you decide to sing to yourself, the person in the next seat will probably elbow you in the ribs; and if your waking hours clash with what is supposedly a night time flight, you may feel obliged not to speak for ages.

And then, when you've finally landed safely, and may have to deal with the fact that your luggage has gone to another continent, you have a miserable time at your destination, thinking about how you've got to do it all again just to come home.

LEAVING ON A JET PLANE-JOHN DENVER

Why this great, innocent song, you ask? Because the lyrics say that the guy is leaving on a jet plane and he doesn’t know when he’ll be back again. Probably because he’s dead.

In the case of John Denver, he was ultimately killed flying an airplane he owned, not exactly reassuring.

So, yes I hate to fly, but I do fly often, and am a reasonably "good flyer" because as I previously stated I have  already come to terms with everything that can go wrong on the flight. In essence, I have relinquished control to whatever, whomever controls that which we have absolutely no input as to its outcome.

Then there are the things that "they" don't want you to know.

Pilots falling asleep on the job (click here) is far more common than you might expect. In one British Airline Pilots Association’s survey of 500 commercial pilots, 56 percent admitted to having fallen asleep on the flight deck.
Twenty-nine percent had woken up to find the other pilot asleep.

Eighty-four percent said they believed their abilities had been compromised by tiredness in the past six months. While this might seem like unacceptable behavior, it is also very common.

Who can ever forget the two Northwest Airlines pilots (now part of Delta Airlines) flying a jet with 144 passengers that missed its destination (Click Here) of Minneapolis, Minnesota by 150 miles on October 21, 2009.

The jet flew into Wisconsin, about 150 miles past Minneapolis, before turning back to land.

Air traffic controllers tried frantically to reach them, pilot Richard Cole would not say just what it was that led to them to forget to land Flight 188."We were not asleep; we were not having an argument; we were not having a fight," Cole told the AP.

Air traffic controllers and pilots tried for more than an hour to contact Cole and the flight's captain, Timothy B. Cheney, of Gig Harbor, Washington state, using radio, cell phone and data messages.

On the ground, concerned officials alerted National Guard jets to prepare to chase the airliner from two locations, though none of the military planes left the runway.

As the plane flew at an altitude of 37,000 feet, a flight attendant finally realizing that the trip was taking too long, called the cockpit on the jet's intercom system to ask when it would arrive, the NTSB said.

Capt. Timothy Cheney, 53, told investigators that only then did he look at his cockpit display and realize he had flown past Minneapolis (surely it was at that moment he woke up from his deep sleep when the flight attendant used the intercom).

Aviation safety experts and other pilots were deeply skeptical they could have become so distracted that they forgot to land an airplane carrying 144 passengers. The most likely possibility, they said, is that both pilots simply fell asleep somewhere along their route from San Diego.

The many safety checks built into the aviation system to prevent incidents like this one or to correct them quickly, apparently were ineffective until the very end.

Not only couldn't air traffic controllers and other pilots raise the Northwest pilots for an hour, but the airline's dispatcher should have been trying to reach them as well. The three flight attendants on board should have questioned why there were no preparations for landing being made. Brightly lit cockpit displays/alarms should have warned the pilots it was time to land.

Here in the U.S., the FAA does not legally allow pilots to nap in the cockpit, but they have acknowledged they understand the value of catching a cat nap. In fact, a NASA/FAA study demonstrated the effectiveness of a brief in-flight nap in improving subsequent alertness and performance. According to the study, “a planned brief in-flight nap would be an operational strategy that directly reduces the physiological sleepiness engendered by flight operations.”

One pilot even acknowledged that cat naps are quite common.

"It’s not legal, but as long as you don’t do something wrong—like overshoot your landing—it’s actually safer. You can look at the other guy and say if you need 10 minutes….it really brings you back to life."
Oh, in case, you think that the airplanes gas tanks are fully filled so it could fly safely beyond it's destination, there is something else happening now instead to wake you up:

You do remember my Blog post about Ryanair Airlines  titled "I GOT TO PEE" where they were charging for the use of using the toilet on their airplanes, among other bizarre details about airlines- Click Here)

Guess what-Airlines don't want you to know- That they Are Skimping on Fuel

Airline cost-cutting measures are getting extreme. Gasoline for cars is expensive, but jet fuel is extremely costly. Some airlines are reportedly flying with less than
recommended fuel levels in an effort to save money, according to a scary report (Click Here) by Spanish safety investigators. The report focuses on budget airline Ryanair, which is no stranger to cutting corners. Take this case (Click Here), in which the airline instructed its pilots to fly slower in order to save fuel.

Your Plane Is Filthy

With planes flying on tighter schedules than ever before, there's often no time for cleaning before a flight is turned around for the next group of passengers. Since cold and influenza viruses can live for days on surfaces, planes can become germ hotbeds.

Watch out for seat pockets (where sick passengers may stash dirty tissues), tray tables (a study found that 60 percent of tray tables tested harbored the "superbug" MRSA), and airplane blankets (which are only washed every five to 30 days, according to an investigation by the Wall Street Journal). Pack antibacterial wipes and hope for the best.

I won't even get into the pilots who fly stoned on drugs and or alcohol. I know there are all types of random, sophisticated drug testing done today that would prevent this. I am sure it works efficiently and is nothing to be concerned about, sure, just like all the backup systems that were in place, but didn't work, which were designed to wake up the two Northwest Airline pilots.

Here's to safe traveling!

IS IT THIS- UP UP AND AWAY?

OR IS IT GONNA BE - THIS UP UP AND AWAY-SOMEONE WAKE UP!

POLITICIANS TOO COWARDLY TO PUT THEIR MONEY WHERE THEIR MOUTH IS ABOUT GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN!

Members of Congress will be paid during the government shutdown as required by the Constitution.

More than 800,000 federal workers were sent home without pay on Tuesday as the government shut down for the first time in nearly two decades.

For the 535 members of Congress, however, the paychecks will keep coming no matter how long the shutdown lasts.

The Constitution's 27th Amendment stipulates that the salaries of the House and Senate cannot change until a congressional election has come and gone.

The fact that the people who have forced the shutdown are still being paid has rankled plenty of Americans. Some members of Congress, including Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, the Tea Party darling from Texas, has pledged to donate his salary to charity during the shutdown.

Rep. Peter King, R-Seaford, NY, said that's just "a stunt" by "millionaire Senators."

King, one of just five House Republicans to vote against the final spending measure Monday night that pushed the government to shut down, said he deserves to be paid.

"If I was the one running around saying the government should shut down, that's one thing," he said. "I'm the one that is trying to keep it open. So if anyone should get his paycheck, it's me."

How convenient. Politicians state that it's the law which requires them to get paid during the current  Government shutdown.

In particular this is vomitatious coming from the Republicans since they forced the shutdown of our Government.

Just as hypocritical are the GOP politicians citing the law and the Constitution as reasons that they have to be paid their already excessive salaries for not doing any work.

Whether one agrees or disagrees with the Affordable Health Care Act (AKA "Obamacare"), this Act is the law, and has been upheld as legal by the Supreme Court of the United States.

The LAWS mean nothing to Republicans if they disagree with it. This is totally obscene and not part of the core beliefs that comprise land of the free America they supposedly profess to love.

The Daily News of New York said it be best:

Whether you agree with a law or not, no matter your political persuasion, when a law is legally passed, it must be respected in a Democracy.

Elections decide issues by putting those in Congress to represent the people of the United States. If you don't agree with the laws, elect different politicians.

Apparently the GOP thinks they are special and can ignore the majority of voters. The Republicans are losers, unable and incapable of understanding that you can't always get what you want in the process of living in a Democracy. In the end they have now crossed over the line of no return, and will be held accountable by the American people for their traitorous, Un-American actions.

What's next in our Banana Republic? Does the GOP want to try recounting the popular and electoral votes of the Presidential election where a majority vote of more than 4 million American people elected President Obama who clearly whipped Romney's ass.

This is what I think about all of Congress continuing to get their salary:
  • If they weren't going to get paid, this would not happen. They work for us and they have forgotten that.
  • Their pay should be first to go. What a difference the outcome would be.
  • If we don't do our jobs we get fired--enough said!
  • I didn't elect any of them. If their salaries were in jeopardy they would of got the job done.
  • They should be fired...the same way anyone else would be for not showing up to work! It's unacceptable behavior...yet we accept it!
  • Congressmen should be treated like everybody else. Take away their pay!!!
  • I feel so sad for this country.
  • Well, of course the Congressmen still get paid. Why should they suffer? Disgusting!!!
  • We the American people are the victims & will suffer.
  • Politicians only care about their own selfish ambitions, careers, and themselves. None of them gives a rats ass about the citizens of the United States.
  • Affordable Health Care for All Americans is not even the real issue. The GOP hates President Obama and will do anything to screw him, by screwing all of us. This is not even politics at it worst, it is pure evil, and getting even worse.
  • Congress gets paid their salary for life with health benefits when they retire. They are taken care of and set for life with their own Affordable Health Care Plan. Why would any rational American believe anything that comes out of a politicians mouth, in particular a Republican's?
  • Congress has an approval rating of 10 per cent. Who are these mysterious 10 percent, their relatives?
  • What a circus of clowns, seriously, these morons are our "leaders".
  • Truly a huge shit load of buffoons inhabit Congress!!!
Republicans need to take the advice of the sagely Philosophers "The Rolling Stones" and accept their holy, wise words in the song below:

YOU CAN"T ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU WANT

CAPITOL HOLE- SHUT UP OR SHUTDOWN

The  United States Congress is back in session on Capitol Hill, which should be renamed to "Capitol Hole", such as in a toilet cesspool hole.

America needs to rally. Jobs are scarce, incomes are falling, and Congress could help, but there are no bold new bipartisan ideas, the nation's legislators have done nothing except argue.

Instead the Civil War continues in Washington, no one there really wants a solution, and no one there will shut up about threatening the shut down of the government.

The GOP-controlled House voted this past week to cripple President Barack Obama's health care law as part of a risky ploy that threatens a government shutdown on October 1st, 2013.

In order for the debt ceiling of the government to be set, the budget to be passed, they added on the defunding of the health care act as an amendment.

The Speaker of the House says there's nothing to worry about here. "There should be no conversation about shutting the government down. Our goal here is to cut spending and to protect the American people from Obamacare. There is no interest in our part of shutting the government down," said Speaker of the House John Boehner.

So says Mr. Boehner and you can trust him because well, he's a politician who is here to "protect the American People".

Gee thanks, gosh , that means us, apparently we the American people need Congress to protect us, especially  from Capitol Hole.

But you see Mr. Boehner you're attaching, to the bill that must be passed to keep the government running, an amendment that torpedoes the president's Affordable Care Act. And you're sending it to a Senate run by Democrats.

"I'm not going to predict what the Senate is going to do or not do," said Boehner.

No, you can never tell with those Senate Democrats. They're such inscrutable tight-lipped people when it comes to Republicans.

The rhetoric is designed for the dumbed down American Public that keeps electing these idiots because they believe in the bull shit being shoveled at them by the even dumber mindless media.

House Republicans are like Custer, they will fight no matter that their bill will be defeated by the Senate Democrats.

You can never figure out what any of these "distinguished Congress persons" are actually thinking, but Democrats strongly denounced the Republican move.

Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York said the GOP was pursuing an "insane plan." Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota said, "A group of extremists is threatening to hold our government hostage."

What a surprise reaction?

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the real future of America is all a silly game to these politicians. It's all about them, not us.

So I suggest, if Congress is really going to run the same plot every two years, at least mix it up.

Maybe instead of the Republicans attaching the repeal of Obamacare to the budget, the Democrats could attach the repeal of the Second Amendment to the budget.

Then we could go back and forth, linking the budget to the Keystone Pipeline, school prayer, abortion rights, global warming, legalized marijuana, selling flowers to couples getting gay married, the theory of Evolution, or daylight saving time.

The possibilities are endless for the games to continue.

No doubt they will, and of course the losers will always be the American people, because the real issues facing us are never discussed.

MEMORIES SNEAK UP ON ME WAY TOO OFTEN THESE DAYS

Keep a fire burning in your eye
Pay attention to the open sky
You never know what will be coming down

I don't remember losing track of you

You were always dancing in and out of view
I must have thought you'd always be around
Always keeping things real by playing the clown
Now you're nowhere to be found

I don't know what happens when people die
Can't seem to grasp it as hard as I try
It's like a song I can hear playing right in my ear
That I can't sing
I can't help listening

And I can't help feeling stupid standing 'round

Crying as they ease you down
'cause I know that you'd rather we were dancing
Dancing our sorrow away
No matter what fate chooses to play
there's nothing you can do about it anyway

Keep a fire for the human race
Let your prayers go drifting into space
You never know what will be coming down
Perhaps a better world is drawing near
And just as easily it could all disappear
Along with whatever meaning you might have found
Don't let the uncertainty turn you around
Memories sneak up on me way too often these days.

Into a dancer you have grown
From a seed somebody else has thrown
Go on ahead and throw some seeds of your own

And somewhere between the time you arrive
And the time you go
May lie a reason you were alive
But you'll never know

REHTAEH PARSONS FATHER SENT DEATH THREAT WARNING "UNLESS HE KEEPS HIS MOUTH SHUT ABOUT THE GANG RAPE THAT DROVE HER TO SUICIDE AT AGE 17."

I have done a series of blog posts on the horrible tragedy of 17 year old Rehtaeh Parsons of Nova Scotia, Canada, who committed suicide after two agonizing years of being tortured by non stop bullying in person and online by others, after she was gang raped by four young men when she was 15 years old.(CLICK HERE FOR MY PREVIOUS BLOG POSTS .

Rehtaeh was a victim of heinous crimes and her family has been fighting to get justice for her. Unfortunately, the Canadian police did not think that a forced gang rape of this teenager was serious enough to warrant a thorough investigation, and they dropped the case.

Only after the news and bad publicity went viral over the Internet, did authorities reopen the case, in particular due to the pressure placed on them by Rehtaeh's family, and apparently more importantly, the bad world wide publicity that Canadian authorities were receiving in the way they mishandled the events leading up to Rehtaeh's death.

Promises were made to her family, pompous politicians spoke hollow words of a new investigation, a change in education of values, but  in reality simply waited patiently for the furor to die down, so that they would end up doing nothing, just paying phony "lip service" to cover their own personal political careers.

Canada never intended to seriously do anything about the issue of forced rape, just like the United States, and other "civilized countries" have also in most every case, trivialized rape as a non crime.

Things got quiet for awhile in Rehtaeh's case but now some sick, cowardly, bastards have re-lit the fire of hate, arrogance, and the demeaning once again of Rehtaeh's life in threatening to kill her father "if he didn't shut up".

They have done this because they do not fear any criminal action against them, and see the Canadian government as a weak, heartless, souless bunch of politicians who care nothing about justice.

Now it has been reported that Rehtaeh's father has received death threats warning that if he doesn't "shut up" he'll "join his daughter."

See VIDEO BELOW

Since Rehtaeh Parsons, 17, killed herself in April, her father, Glen Canning, has been a vocal advocate against cyber bullying and has demanded justice in the horrific case, in which two teens are facing porn-related charges.

But he said he has now received a sinister message posted on his YouTube account demanding he 'shut up' or his life may be at risk. He has alerted police and they have launched an investigation.

s
(Glen Canning, pictured above)

The death threat to Mr. Canning was,"I know where you live, I know your face, I know your car, I know your house, I know where you work. And you better shut up, bud, or you're going to be joining your daughter." Just stuff like that,' Canning told CBC News of the threats. 'It's pretty sad, actually.'

He added that he felt threatened enough to call the Canadian police.

"I would say I don't trust them why would I they are capable of doing some pretty sick stuff so whether or not they decide to take a shot at me some day I don't know," he said.

Royal Canadian Mountain Police Sergeant Andy Kerr confirmed they had received a complaint from Canning but wouldn't comment further because the investigation is ongoing.

Police can request YouTube provide them with the person's information such as the IP address of the computer from where the comment originated.

In the meantime, Canning said he is taking precautions including setting up security cameras around his Nova Scotia home.

Teen suspect Teen suspect

(The two teen suspects, pictured above, now 18, cannot be identified under Canadian law because they were 16 when the crime took place)

Glen Canning stated that "We have cameras set up around our home right now to keep track of things. But I think that they're gutless cowards. They're the kind of people that would show up in the middle of the night and spray paint your house."

The threats come just a week after the lawyer for one of the two 18-year-olds charged with circulating rape pictures of Parsons is also being persecuted by a "cyber-lynch mob."

Parsons' tragic suicide brought international attention to her claims that she was gang-raped when she was 15 and then relentlessly tormented by classmates who called her a 'slut' and harassed her for sex.

Much of the bullying was a result of a photo the circulated at her school that showed Parsons being assaulted by a teen boy while throwing up out a window.

They were both in court on August 15 with their parents for a brief appearance. The judge set a trial for September 19.

Josh Arnold, the attorney for one of the men, told CTV News that his client has already been convicted in the court of public opinion.

"The Internet mavens and some members of the media have acted like a lynch mob in relation to this matter. They've tried and convicted this person without any due process whatsoever," he said.

The two 18 year olds are charged with child pornography. One is accused of taking the picture, both are accused of circulating it. Because the alleged crime took place when the men were 16, they are charged as juveniles and their identities cannot be revealed.

Left behind: Her father, pictured with Rehtaeh and her stepmother, said she killed herself out of disappointment in her school, her former friends and law enforcement officers who failed to help her

Rehtaeh's father said she killed herself out of disappointment in her school, her former friends and law enforcement officers who failed to help her

Her heartbroken parents say that she hanged herself in their bathroom two years after the alleged attack because she could not bear to bullying and torment at school.

Her uncle was furious about the attorney's allegations.
"This man's saying that these boys have been prosecuted in the media. That hasn't been the case. That's not true," Michael Parsons said.

"This case has been brought forward in the media. Because, it was only through the media participation that this case is even being looked at today."

He also said he is praying for the two accused.

Michael Parsons stated that "I have to pray for these boys. I have to pray for them to become good men. That's the hardest thing for me to do. But it's something I have to do. That's what's hard. If you want to know the truth that's the hardest thing to do," he told the CBC.

"I have absolutely no faith in the RCMP or the Halifax city police or the Crown prosecutors because they totally dropped this case, they totally dropped the ball,  according to the uncle."

Rehtaeh's death led to an outcry because no one was charged or even reprimanded at the school, either for her rape or for the bullying.

Four boys, aged 14, 17, and two aged 16, allegedly took turns sexually assaulting her on November 12, 2011, after plying her with alcohol, she told her mother days after.

Her mother said she saw an image of the alleged attack which showed her daughter being raped by a teenage boy as he gave a 'thumbs up' sign while she vomited out of a window.

Police initially concluded there were no grounds to charge anyone after a year-long investigation.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police Corporal Scott MacRae said they arrested two males.

Innocence: Rehtaeh is pictured as a baby with her parents, Leah Parsons and Clen Canning
(Rehtaeh is pictured above as a baby with her parents, Leah Parsons and Glen Canning.)

"Due to the sensitive nature around this investigation, the investigators do want to ensure that no court process is affected,' MacRae said.

The arrests came after someone came forward in April and provided new information and said they were willing to verify who the suspects are.

"We're just hopeful there's charges laid and others to arrest, hoping that they're finally willing to tell their side of the story," Leah Parsons, Rehtaeh's mother, said.

"A sense of relief came over me that at least they're going to be questioned."

Last month Leah and her husband spoke to People magazine about their daughter's tragic death. "When Rehtaeh was born, I promised her the world. Now my beautiful girl is gone," Leah said.

'No help': Cole Harbour High School staff failed to speak to the boys involved and Rehtaeh left

Cole Harbour High School staff failed to address this crime or even speak to the boys involved and Rehtaeh eventually transferred to another school.

Rehtaeh eventually closed down her Facebook page because there were so many men asking her to have sex with them. They would say: ‘You had sex with my friend, so why not me?’

The response from the school was, apparently, to do very little. Halifax school board spokesman Doug Hadley has said that none of the boys were spoken to.

Her father, Glen Canning, told People earlier: "My daughter wasn't bullied to death, she was disappointed to death. Disappointed in people she thought she could trust, her school, and the police."

Rehtaeh's death prompted the Nova Scotia government to launch reviews of the RCMP's original investigation and the school board's handling of the matter.

An independent review released in June concluded the Halifax Regional School Board could have done a better job, but it was hindered by the fact that Rehtaeh was often absent from class.

You see, rape is not really a crime according to these idiots. It's Rehtaeh's fault, "she wasn't in class enough" they allege, so how could she be interviewed?

Apparently they couldn't go to her house to speak to Rehtaeh, or call her parents, because well, you know, how would they find the directions to where she lived, or her telephone number, that's hard work for them.

Sure the School Board "could have done a better job, but she was "absent from class often", that's the real problem the school says.

Sure the Police could have done a better job, but you know, boys will be boys, and she was drunk anyway.

Sure the politicians "cared so much" about what happened that they were going to get to the truth, but only when the media was shining on them.

And so it goes, always blame the victims, never take accountability for the actions, negligence, and inactions of those who are in charge of protecting the rights of human beings.

Canada has learned it's lessons well from us in America, talk the talk, do nothing to obtain justice for victims, blame the victims for somehow being deserving of their tragedy.

So it goes in this dispensable world of innocent people who get killed and erased by those sworn to protect them.

A human life means nothing is what they all really mean.
